Sands Basketball is excited to announce our Fall Coaches Clinic this October 21st at Sands Secondary School in Delta.  We have a great line-up of speakers and happy to be able to offer this learning opportunity to the coaching community at a very reasonable price.

Presenter Information

Dave Alwert – Wilson High School

David L. Alwert currently holds a winning percentage of 76.2% since taking over the Wilson Rams Boys Basketball Program in 2008.  In 2015, the Rams cut the nets down as they won their first 3A West Central District Title and advanced to the State Playoffs for the sixth time in seven years.  They won the 3A Narrows League in 2014 and advanced to the Final Four of the 3a State Playoffs at the Tacoma Dome.  Overall, under the helm of Coach Alwert, the Wilson Rams have racked up an impressive record over the last eight years and consistently have been ranked in the 3A Top Ten in WA and consistently advanced to the West Central District tournament and had numerous All-League and All-State players.

Tyler Coston – PGC Basketball

Tyler Coston is a full-time course director and clinician with PGC Basketball.  Following a very successful playing career at Lynden Christian High School, Trinity Western University, and The University of Alberta Tyler moved into coaching.  From 2005-2007, Tyler coached the women’s basketball team at Trinity Western University while simultaneously running a skills-development program that produced five Division I (USA) athletes. In 2007, he accepted a position as Assistant Coach at Portland State University.  During his first year at Portland State, the Vikings won the Big Sky Conference with an overall record of 23-8. After Portland State captured the Big Sky Conference tournament, they went on to the NCAA Tournament where they lost to the eventual 2008 champions, the Kansas Jayhawks.

Joe Enevoldson – Douglas College

Coach Enevoldson begins the 2016-2017 season as the new Head Coach with the Douglas College Royals.  A former student-athlete at the University College of the Cariboo (now Thompson River University), Enevoldson has held coaching positions at UBC, TRU and Mount Royal University, as well as working with Basketball BC Provincial teams the last three summers.  Joe was also recently hired as Assistant Director of High Performance with Basketball BC.  

Mike McNeill – Former Assisant Coach, Canadian Women’s National Team

Mike served as the Manager of Coaching Development for Basketball BC from 2005 to 2015. With over 30 years of coaching experience, he has guided teams at the high school, collegiate, university, provincial and national team level. Mike served as an assistant coach with the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team and helped lead Canada to a berth in the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Mike also coached at The University of Oregon and Simon Fraser University.  He is a former Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and is a Certified International Youth Conditioning Association coach. An NCCP Master Learning Facilitator, McNeill has conducted coaching clinics and courses for basketball coaches across BC.
